Who is helping who?

Reality Check.
'My husband helps around the house.'
'My wife helps with the school fees.'
'My husband helps with the kids.'
'I help out with the cooking on weekends.'
'She helps out with managing the budget.'
.
.
.
.
.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Listen to yourself speak.
A man in his own house is 'helping' who? Cooking to feed who? Washing whose dirty pant? Taking care of whose kids?
That's how we will be clapping for a man because he simply took care of his own kids alone for a weekend. As if they suddenly dropped from heaven into his house. You are not scared to say you are 'baby-sitting' your own children. Hian.
A woman in her own house buying groceries to feed who? Contributing money for whose kids? Washing whose clothes? Taking out whose trash? Balancing whose budget? No be her own?
That's how we will be clapping for a woman that pays school fees. Why won't she pay? No be she find pikin?
A man and woman marry and they become one flesh. And they subsequently produce/adopt children and they become one family.
Anything you are doing for your family you are only 'helping' YOURSELF.
We should stop all this stereotyping.
Everyone in the house should tackle the tasks they are best skilled and positioned for to the benefit of the whole family. Stop dividing and demarcating family roles based on genitalia.
